Computer Processors

A central processing unit (CPU) or processor is an electronic circuit that can execute computer programs.  It is the "brain" of you computer.  Tell each component of your computer what to do, where to send information, how to get information, when that information can be used, etc.
Processors are a huge part of how fast your computer thinks and reacts to what you as a computer user.  There are two major manufacturers of computer processors.  There are others, but most computers include either a Intel Processor or AMD Processor.  Both manufacturers have been in constant competition to make a better, faster, stronger computer processor.  Most computer motherboards are designed to use either one or the other manufacturer, so make sure that your mother motherboard will be able to use the processor that you are attempting to purchase.
